The family support groups listed below provide those who attend with the opportunity to ask questions, share their experiences and support each other as they struggle to help and to cope with a family member with a mental illness.  Most of the groups are intended for families of an adult with mental illness.  There is no charge to attend and information shared at the meetings is kept confidential by participants. What is said in NAMI stays in NAMI.These confidential meetings provide a safe place where family members and friends
of individuals with a mental illness are invited to share experiences and
explore possible solutions.

NAMI Placer County Family Support Meetings:  Held the third Thursday of each month except July and December, from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at the Auburn Main Library, 350 Nevada St., Auburn

Call NAMI Placer County Warm Line: 916-554-0554 for information on the next class available. This is a free 12 week, experiential education course on the topic of recovery for family caregivers of individuals with severe mental illness. The course uses a combination of lecture, interactive exercises and structured group processes, and the diversity of experience among course participants affords for a lively dynamic that moves the course along. The course is designed to offer an opportunity for growth to any individual who may have a family member or close friend that have been diagnosed with a mental illness. The course is taught by two trained family members who are themselves family members of an individual with a severe mental illness.
